Montessori shelves provide young children with more independence than traditional toy bins by allowing them easy access to whatever toys and materials they like.Â
The shelves also allow for organization of materials at an age when order is very important. Between 1-2.5 children are in what Montessori refers to as the sensitive period for order. This is a time when order brings a level of control to a child’s life.Â
These shelves prevents little ones from becoming overwhelmed and allows them to begin the skill of classification – all the balls go in one basket, this puzzle goes on this tray, etc.
Our beautiful design is unfinished and beautiful on it’s own or can be finished with a water-based varnish.
These shelves are the perfect size for any living room or bedroom where you’d like to setup a small work/toy shelf. They’re handmade in Canada of baltic birch, furniture-grade plywood.
